چکیده

9 Rhizosphere microbiomes which have been implicated to enhance plant growth and yield are 10 modulated or influenced by a couple of environmental factors such as soil type, plant cultivar, 11 climate change and anthropogenic activities. In particular, anthropogenic activity such as the use 12 of nitrogen-based chemical fertilizers is associated with environmental destruction and this call 13 for a more ecofriendly strategy to increase nitrogen level of agricultural land. This feat is 14 attainable by harnessing nitrogen-fixing endophytic and free-living rhizobacteria. Rhizobium, 15 Pseudomonas, Azospirillum and Bacillus have been found to have positive impacts on crops by 16 enhancing both above and belowground biomass and could therefore play positive roles in 17 achieving sustainable agriculture. Thus, it is needful to study these rhizosphere microbiomes 18 with more sophisticated culture-independent technologies such as next generation sequencing 19 (NGS) with the prospect of discovering novel bacteria with plant growth promoting traits. This 20 review is therefore aimed at discussing factors that can modulate rhizosphere microbiomes with 21 focus on the contributions of nitrogen fixing bacteria towards sustainable agricultural 22 development and the techniques that can be used for their study. 23 24

Two new nitrogen-fixing bacteria from the rhizosphere of mangrove trees: Their isolation, identification and in vitro interaction with rhizosphere Staphylococcus sp

Two new diazotrophic bacteria, Listonella anguillarum and Vibrio campbellii, and one nonnitrogen-fixing bacterium, Staphylococcus sp., were isolated from the rhizosphere of mangrove trees. Strains of these newly-defined diazotrophs are known as pathogenic bacteria in fish and shellfish. During the purification of diazotrophic species from the entire rhizosphere population, N2 -fixation of the b...

Different effects of transgenic maize and nontransgenic maize on nitrogen-transforming archaea and bacteria in tropical soils.

The composition of the rhizosphere microbiome is a result of interactions between plant roots, soil, and environmental conditions. The impact of genetic variation in plant species on the composition of the root-associated microbiota remains poorly understood. This study assessed the abundances and structures of nitrogen-transforming (ammonia-oxidizing) archaea and bacteria as well as nitrogen-f...

Characterization of selected groups of microorganisms occurring in soil rhizosphere and phyllosphere of oats.

Studies were carried out on the microflora of phyllosphere and soil rhizosphere of hulled (Chwat variety) and naked (Akt variety) oats. The material taken for study embraced samples of leaves and soil rhizosphere taken from cultivations differing in extent of nitrogen fertilization. The studies involved determination of total number of aerobic heterotrophic bacteria belonging to the genus Pseud...

Identification of ten N2-fixing bacteria using 16S rRNA and their response to various zinc concentrations

Zinc is presently being used as a micronutrient essential for plant growth in agriculture in the form of zinc sulphate in fertilizers. Considering the importance of nitrogen-fixing microorganisms in soil fertility and plant growth, and the toxic effects of zinc, this study aimed at isolating nitrogen-fixing microorganisms from the asparagus rhizosphere arable soil and examining the sensitivity ...
